Project Title: TAMU Pneumatic Dome – Junior Design Studio Project

Overview This project explores full-scale pneumatic (air-inflated) architecture, focusing on spatial experience, material behavior, and structural efficiency under low internal pressure. Created as part of a Junior Design Studio at Texas A&M University (TAMU), the project translates digital geometric patterns into a physical tensile enclosure.

Design & Structural Concept

  • Form & Geometry: A large dome structure featuring alternating vertical gores/panels to distribute tensile loads evenly across the skin.

  • Entry Mechanism: Incorporates a central circular entryway designed to accommodate inflation pressure while allowing human access.

  • Materiality: Constructed using lightweight, reflective sheet membrane material bonded at the seams to maintain airtight integrity and create a striking textural aesthetic.

  • Scale & Presence: Positioned in an outdoor wooded environment, providing a stark contrast between organic natural surroundings and synthesized industrial form, with human scale reference shown alongside the prototype.
